In all 130 students graduated from courses including English for Academic Purposes levels 1, 2 or 3, while some received Foundation Certificates in English for Academic Purposes and English Pathway for Postgraduate Studies.
A touching part of the graduation ceremony was the student speeches, where one student from each class spoke of their experience at ELA.
Graduates Yamato Chosa and Eiichi Satom (pictured below) are from Soka University in Tokyo. Both spoke of their experiences on behalf of their classes.
Graduate Yamato said he loved studying for his English for Academic Purposes levels 1, but also the weekend tips to cafes, picnics and working on assignments with his classmates.

Of the 130 graduates an impressive sixty of the English for Academic Purposes Level 3 students have chosen to return to the University to complete Post Graduate studies in a range of subjects including Masters degrees in everything from Arts, Laws to Marketing and Music.
ELA Director PaulO鈥橣arrell said the graduation was particularly notable as out of the sixty returning students, 10 will progress to post graduate studies at the Faculty of Engineering in Semester 2 in July.
鈥淭hese included students who will undertake Masters of Medical Engineering, Masters of Material Engineering, and Masters of Energy, as well as the ever-popular Master of Civil Engineering, Masters of Materials Engineering, and Master of Engineering Project Management. I have no doubt that these students will contribute to the faculty's research output and help address the challenges facing communities worldwide. We very much look forward to seeing their successes in their relevant fields."
This number of students heading to study engineering was not lost on guest speaker Dr Cody Mankelow, Associate Dean of Engineering, who told the graduates he was inspired by their success.
